Hawaiian hen party theme...help!?
I love a luau theme! I have seen a ton of luau themed decorations at Dollar tree lately. My friends and I used to throw an annual luau for 200+ people every summer. We would make sure to have plenty of leis for the guests, fancy straws for their drinks, plates, napkins and plasticware in a luau theme and tablecloths for the tables. We kept the other decorations to a minimum because you could go crazy with all the decorations out there, but just a few will give people the idea. We also made sure to put decorations in the bathrooms, that's where people actually noticed them.

For the BBQ, one thing we always made were chicken shish-ka-bobs. People still talk about them. Cut some boneless, skinnless chicken breasts into bite sized pieces, marinate in italian dressing overnight. In the morning, out together the kabobs. Skewer chicken with fresh, green peppers, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and pineapple. Grill til chicken is cooked through (couple minutes on each side, medium heat) Soak the bamboo skewers before assembling kabobs and they won't burn. A simple punch is fruit punch with vodka and float some fresh fruit in it (watermelon, canteloupe, strawberries, grapes, etc) .

Good luck, Im sure it will be alot of fun.
Reply:Because Hawaii is quite based in nature with their decor you can keep it cheap and basic.Try putting a lot of grass up everywhere, maybe decorate the table with it. Bright fresh tropical flowers can be used as favors, wall decorations et.c

Hula dancing could be a fun game to play

Lots of meat would be needed for the BBQ as well as tropical fruits
Reply:punch, try a fruit punch, 7-up and pinapple ice cream mixture.

you can find a recipe for "surprise burgers" that really arent anything more than just a burger a few common spices and a pinapple ring inside the patty. sounds quite gross, but they are delicious.Give out some Flower Leis. or even the cheaper ones you can get at the dollar store 3-6 for a dollar! of course, do tiki torches, little umbrellas, coconut centerpieces or coconuts as actual drink holders, if there arent a ton of people attending. i would try some kind of dessert with passion fruit. maybe some little fake palm trees, for decor or hula hoop contest for a game. make em wear grass skirts.
Reply:Hii:) Well, since it's going to be outside you don't need much...I would go simple and buy raffia table skirts. They are kinda expensive so maybe just get a couple for the food tables and/or gift table. You can get the lei flower necklaces on Ebay and get a good deal...just make sure you get them in bulk so you don't get ripped off on shipping. Like buy 24 or 48 altogether. Use fresh fruit to decorate. It's cheap and you can use it later :) Yum. Pineapples with a flower tucked in the leaf, coconuts, bananas, etc. Otherwise, stay away from ebay...it's way too much fun %26amp; highly addictive. LOL For food, you could roast a pig (difficult), or just serve ham with pineapple garnished on it, fresh fruit platter, coconut/pineapple cake or dessert, chicken kabobs with green peppers and pineapple chunks, shrimp or coconut shrimp. For favors, I think it might be good enough to just give away the flower leis. Serve pina coladas, mai tais, other tropical drinks...and go to a party store to get those little umbrellas to put in the drinks :) Play hawaiian music and you'll be set! Have fun %26amp; good luck!
Reply:It is to bad you didnt live here, they have a place called coconut joes and it is all hawaiian themed and they have the best prices and really good food! Really very hawaiian feeling!

I would check on orientaltradingcompany.com and they have a ton of stuff for ideas. I would try and get the feel for it like tiki torches and the leighs and maybe some table clothes that are really festive! Some candles and maybe do some sand in the middle of the tables clothes as part of centerpiece! Those little flip flop favors are cute or anything with those flowers that are really popular! And dont forget the hawaiian music!
