I need some ideas for creating a Hawaiian themed room?

I need to turn an entire room into a Hawaiian setting for Vacation Bible School. I want them to feel like they are in Hawaii. I have palm fronds and I was thinking about trying to make a hut with it but I'm not sure how. I have some money to spend on decorations, but I don't want to spend an outrageous amount of money. I already have leis, flowers for thier hair, grass skirts. I also have games planned, but I need decor ideas. Any suggestions?

Tack the grass skirts around the wall end to end to look like grass skirt wainscotting. You can buy palm tree bark and cut it into shingles for your hut. You should be able to make your own fake palm trees pretty easily with the fronds too.

I saw a great room on HGTV on the "look what I did" show where a couple used these tricks and others to create a hawaiian room. You can look under hgtv.com and try to find it. Good luck!
Reply:If you have some brightly colored beach towels you could drape around the room, that would work. Also figuring out a way to put flip flops like they're walking up the wall might be fun. Paper lanterns, drink umbrellas, coconut cups, stuffed animals like monkeys or sea creatures. You could really do a lot with stuff you might have at home!
Reply:go to a dollar store...

almost every one that i've been to has lots of hawaiian themed items for just such an occasion.... everything from coconut shaped cups, to drink umbrellas, tikis, grass skirts, lays, etc.

Reply:got to orientaltrading.com and click in party thne on luau because luau is basically hawiann theme. they have everything to seashhells to sand dollars, centerpieces, banners, and a whole bunch more cool stuff
Reply:go to affordable treasures or even the dollar tree and there should be some inexpensive backgrounds like the kind you can hang on the wall and stuff
