I'm getting a tattoo on my right foot, just under the ankle bone. Its a hawaiian flower- orchid purple main color, with a green stem and one of the petals is blue instead of purple. Its 1 inch by 1 inch. I found a good parlor, and they quoted me at $70.
Is this a good price? My last artist was going to give me that same tattoo for $20 using his discount because I"m his girl's best friend, he got the clearance from his manager, but I found out that he went missing last week. In a way it sounds like its a good thing he didn't do it. Anyway, is $70 good for that tattoo? How much should I tip on a $70 tat?
Cost verification,?
you cannot decide based on price tattoo prices are made up based on ink cost needle cost time and detail and depending on his suppliers traffic and overhead costs one artist might charge a different price than another for the exact same price, judge you artist based on his customer satisfaction, have you mseen some of his work do you like it is his shop clean and professional? These are the important things, cost should not be a major facter in your decision. I am an artist and I personally have an artist friend who will charge $100 bucks for a tat that the biggest shop in my town charges $400 and my friend does better work. Cost is affected by too many things not the least being the artists ego. Judge by your eyes not your wallet
Reply:price isnt the big issue here its quality of the work
it sounds a but pricey but that is prob due to all the colors
and tip some depending on if its the owner doing it or if an employee is doing it
price also can be higher due to the number of customers
Reply:it's small so $70 is more than i would pay at my shop (lowest price is $60 for small tattoos)...they would prob charge $60 for that, but it sounds about right. tip anywhere between $10-$20 depending on how long it takes. over an hour i would say $20 but judging by the size it shouldn't take that long. $10, $15 if you plan on going back to the same person again. they do appreciate it.
Reply:most places won't touch you for less than $60, if you were quoted $70, don't forget to tip.
Reply:do not ever base your decision on who to get a tattoo from on price. a good tattoo artist is priceless. the cheapest tattoo artist is not the best. 70 dollars sounds find for what you want. in 10 years you won't remember or care if you paid 20 or 70 for it but you will always have to look at a poorly done tattoo. go to the artist you think will do the best tattoo for you.
