Wedding flower help ladies???
Flowers in season are a lot cheaper than flowers out of season.
Find a florist willing to work within your budget, they are out there. They'll help you choose your flowers based on your dress and wedding colors, budget and time of year. It's too hard to go alone because you can make some costly mistakes.
Your bouquet should also compliment your wedding dress. A too big bouquet can overwhelm and hide the details of a sleek wedding dress. Or a too simple bouquet will look weird against a princess style ballgown. You have to get the proportions right.
For cheap flowers at the reception, order pots of blooming flowers that are in season from your local grocery store and have them put them in pot sleeves that match your wedding colors.
Reply:Calla lillies are gorgeous. My sister-in-law used them in her boquet and a spring mix in our boquets. Roses work they have many different color options. Gerbera daisies are also very beautiful. A good inexpensive filler would be carnations or regular daisies.
Reply:--Some brides use seasonal flowers, and others use silk flowers. Both options should be cheaper.
--As for the big Hawaiian flowers, you may be describing either the hibiscus or the plumeria. Both are common there, and they are beautiful flowers.
--It's your wedding, you should get the flowers that you really like. The flowers that you mentioned are really nice so you can't go wrong with your choice.
--Good luck!
Reply:I think roses are the safest and best way to go with some weddings. I was going to use lilies for mine in May but some florist told me it is hard to get them and if you get them they are very pricy. Roses you can get them in any color. and also mix other flowers inside the roses to make it different a little if you like.
Reply:Well roses, calla Lillie's and hibiscus are expensive flowers. One way to save money is to use flowers that are in season by you. I had a huge wedding bouquet. I used lots of white tulle to fill in between the flowers. Using greenery and fewer flowers will help too. Figure out what your budget is and ask a florist what will work within your price range.
Reply:well the calla lilies would be great bc they mean beauty. those hawaiian flowers are hibiscus, those are gorgeous too. If it was me I would choose the calla lilies. At my wedding I am going with oriental lilies. I think roses are too over used. Yes they are pretty, but not original.
Reply:Check out Costco or Fifty Flowers. They have pre-made and DIY wedding packages that are very affordable.

Reply:We did calla lilies at our wedding. The photographer put our wedding bands in them. The picture turned out so beautiful. And because it's really a timeless picture, we had it blown up poster sized and put in a nice frame. If you want pics I can send you some.
Reply:I had an all white bouquet. I used calla lilies, gardenias, lilly of the valley, white roses, and white lilacs. It was in a waterfall design and was gorgeous. My DH wore a white gardenia and groomsmen wore a white rose.
Reply:I had red gerbera daisies. Very simple.
What does your dress look like, what about your BMs? how formal is your wedding?
A little more info would be helpful.
Good luck, and Congratulations!
Reply:fake flowers will be less expensive - and some look very real!
unfortunately they don't smell as good - but guests with allergies will thank you
what are your colors? the type of flower you want may not come in your colors so look at them and see what fits
Reply:The flowers in leis that you're thinking of are most commonly a type of orchid. They actually publish wedding mags just about flowers, so I'd pick one up.
Reply:those hawaiian flowers are hibiscus, that would be very unique for a wedding but I don't know how expensive they are to put in bouquets or for centerpieces
Reply:First of all check out theknot.com. There you can look at many different flower ideas in all sorts of color schemes, etc. You can also look through other knotties (brides-to-be) personal profiles to get some ideas for flowers, etc.
After you have some sort of an idea then you should go see a few florists. While it might seem like it will end up being really expensive you have to weigh your options and truthfully if you sit down with a really good florist and tell them your budget they will work with you and help you. Sometimes doing it the do-it-yourself route will cause a lot of problems.
If you're set on doing the flowers yourself check into seeing if you have any local flower marts (here in the Bay Area of CA we have two close by) where they sell to the public as well. For the most part they will guide a little but you should already have a plan of action. You could also try something like Costco.com which sells and delivers the flowers to you. They have packages and one actually includes calla lillies- they offer three different levels- a 40 Piece Calla Lily Collection which includes:
1 Bridal bouquet
1 Maid of Honor bouquet
4 Brides Maid bouquets
1 Toss Away bouquet
2 Mothers petite hand-tie
12 Corsages
12 Attendant boutonnieres
6 Centerpieces (vases not included)
10 Rose Petal buds
the whole package is $760.00 but hey have smaller packages as well down to $230.00.
At my August wedding I used flowers that were mostly in season to keep the expense down with the exception of my bouquet which I had already decided would be Peonies (in August!) regardless of the cost. To brighten up the venue we bought pretty urns from Michael's (I had a couple of 40% off coupons so I was only out like $25/planter) and planted flowers from the local hardware store which matched my color scheme.
At my sister-in-laws wedding we bought clay bulb starter planters, (they are shallow flower pots) painted them ivory (one of the colors in her wedding) and then planted red flowers (the other color in her wedding) in the pots. We made 20 of those and used them for centerpeices- much cheaper than what I paid for for my wedding- each centerpeice was $40.00 for a professionally done centerpeice.
Good luck!
